Announcement / HTML Escaper
Date: Oct 22, 2025 - 01:18 PM
Ever had trouble with a public Java Web Application and users submitting malicous HTML code into comments, articles etc.?
I had trouble and so I just decided to write a bean that can strip HTML from a given text.
I´m planning to write a bean that can remove any HTML from a given text according to user defined rules. I´m thinking of disallow certain tags at all and allow them with or without parameters.

The bean should be fault tolerant according to common wrong HTML that still is interpreted by browsers. Meaning missing closing header tags or not XHTML conformant mark up should not prevent the excaper from stripping the HTML.
Furthermore it should be configurable if the HTML is simply escaped and stays in the text as a readable string presented to the user or if it should be completely removed from the text.
Please send comment with suggestions and requirements to such a component to the forum.
